Below is a sample 11 day itinerary that heads from the Capital of Zagreb down the coast, visiting islands, and ending in the Old Town of Dubrovnik.

Day 1
Arrive Zagreb

Discover city highlights of the capital, from the central Jelacic Square, to Zagreb Cathedral, to bustling Tkalciceva Street.

Day 2
Pick up Rental Car
Zagreb to Plitvice Lakes National Park

The beauty of the National Park lies in its sixteen lakes, inter-connected by a series of waterfalls, and set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. Tour this heaven on earth and enjoy scenery of beautiful waterfalls and untouched nature. And don’t forget to make a wish under the largest waterfall as it is supposedly making your wishes come true.

Day 3
Plitvice Lakes to Zadar (1:30 drive)

Day 4
Zadar
Excursion Options: Hike through Paklenica National Park (Day Trip from Zadar)

Paklenica National Park is south of the Velebit range of mountains (the largest in Croatia) and covers an area of just under 100 square km. It had a mixture of high peaks with stunning views and deep gorges, covered in beech and pine forests. The Park is an ideal place to visit for the adventurous – there are several challenging hiking trails, and climbing is also popular here. For those who like things a little more laid-back, there’s more gentle walks available too, with just as much to explore.

Day 5
Zadar to Split (1:45 drive)

Croatia’s second-largest city. Split is a great place to see Dalmatian life as it’s really lived. Always buzzing, this exuberant city has just the right balance of tradition and modernity. Step inside Diocletian’s Palace (a Unesco World Heritage site and one of the world’s most impressive Roman monuments) and you’ll see dozens of bars, restaurants and shops thriving amid the atmospheric old walls where Split life has been humming along for thousands of years.

Split

Day 7
Drop off Rental Car
Split to Havr via Public Ferry

Welcome to the Pearl of Adriatic. Dubrovnik lies in the extreme south of Croatia, basking in glorious Mediterranean sunshine for much of the year.
