Recently, my husband and I took our 1 year anniversary trip back to Old Edwards Inn, where we got married! Since we are all still in different stages of quarantine, we had a discussion about if we still felt comfortable going, but with the ability to drive from Atlanta without needing to stop (2 hours) and their safety policies in place, we felt it would be good to take a safe vacation.
It was so great being back at Old Edwards Inn. We chose it as our wedding venue because it is a such a relaxing yet elegant hotel. The hotel is stunning, the service and food are top notch, and the town of Highalnds offers so much while still being a quick walk everywhere you may want to go (besides the golf courses).
We stayed in the Lodge area of the hotel, which is in between the Historic Main building and the Falls Cottages area. The Lodge offers rooms in cottages as well as the main building, a bar, a game room, and the pool is a couple steps down from the check in lawn. All rooms come with heated bathroom floors, which is INCREDIBLE, and we I really love the extra “sunroom” with the Lodge Rooms. Since we were celebrating our anniversary and have visited multiple times, we were greeted by these adorable hats and handwritten note as a gift.
Old Edwards Inn has two pools, and we were able to lounge by both of them! The pools are gorgeous and the drinks are very good. I also snuck off to the spa for a massage while Billy played golf. The relaxation rooms in the spa are so relaxing, so make sure you either arrive early or leave some time after your treatment.
Another favorite location around property for us is the Hummingbird Lounge. We try to stop by almost every night when we visit. They’ve also opened up the rooftop lounge above the Hummingbird to help with social distancing by providing more areas for eating and drinking. Another great dining option besides Madison’s, a must for any visit, is the Wine Garden. This outdoor dining space is located right on Main Street which the tranquility of a waterfall.
Old Edwards Inn offers the luxury and service you’d hope for on a vacation, while being located within driving distance to many South East cities. If you’re looking to plan a Honeymoon or Anniversary trip and don’t feel comfortable flying yet, this is the spot for you!
