First, I want to start this blog post by thanking all of those who are still working hard to combat COVID-19. From grocery store employees to healthcare workers and everyone in between, the world owes you one big THANK YOU.

Many companies have had to make the hard decision to close up shop for the safety of others, including many in the hospitality industry. Many hotels are closed, restaurants are to go only, and cruise ships are left empty. According to the World Travel & Tourism Council, 10.4% of the GLOBAL GDP is from Travel and Tourism, employing over 319 million people in 2019. That’s a lot of people affected, and that doesn’t include the ones currently impacted due to their travel being cancelled.

I became a travel agent because of my passion for travel, and love of helping other people get to experience that joy as well. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the businesses making hard choices, trying to keep their lights on when this dissipates and the world opens back up. These companies are asking people to Stay Home for the health of the loved ones and neighbors, knowing this could cause them harm to their financial well-being.

My thoughts and prayers are also with all of those who were so looking forward to probably a much needed vacation. My husband and I are in the same boat with you! Two dream trips were cancelled within weeks of each other. Other family members had their trips cancelled as well. My heart breaks for all of the brides planning their special day, only to have it be postponed. But we will stay safe so we can travel with loved ones again soon!

What can we do to help? If you had a trip booked that you can no longer go on, POSTPONE, if you can. Letting these companies know you will still be there when they can open gives them hope they will come back to a thriving business. If, unfortunately, you can no longer take that trip, consider something smaller like a weekend getaway. I am sure we will all be needing it once we are allowed to get out of our houses. Can’t do that? I get it, times are uncertain still. How about getting together with your friends at your local restaurant for an in person happy hour once you’re allowed to go back and give your waiter a few extra dollars on their tip. I’m sure that extra support will mean so much to them after being out of work.

Stay Safe!
